Lap Dulcimers

Meadows Mountain Dulcimers
Also known as the lap dulcimer, this is the instrument that is most closely associated with the Appalachian region. It is a descendant of the German "scheitholt" and other European instruments and has only adopted the name "dulcimer" in the last 150 years or so. Our most popular models are listed here.

Heritage Dulcimer
This is an heirloom quality dulcimer. We build this in both teardrop and hourglass models with walnut back and sides. The two top woods that we use most often are western cedar or redwood, although we occassionally use other woods. This instrument sounds as beautiful as it looks. A walnut fretboard, open gear tuners, and a 61/2 fret insure that it will be comfortable to play.

The "Fancy Gap"
This dulcimer is designed for the advancing player and performer. A new fretboard design provides enhanced tone and volume. A deeper soundbox provides a richer tone and we offer several options that can be incorporated in this instrument for you to create a custom fit. A bone nut and saddle and a rosewood fingerboard overlay with pearl dots are standard features.
 Start at $475
